Gary's Story
I moved to San Francisco in 1991.
I'm married to Karla Maree. We met in an AOL chat room in June 1996 after I asked her about her occupation, which was listed as "book shepherd". We met in person two months later (first date movie: Phenomenon) and were married in June 1998.
Karla's son, Zephram (or Zeph), is a 28-year old computer programmer who (fortunately for us) lives close enough to us that he can come over and fix the TV or DVR or computer or internet or router or... Basically, whenever we cann...Expand for more
ot figure out why something isn't working. It usually takes Zeph all of five minutes to fix whatever the problem is, and then we feed him, sort of a fixed bartering system for services in the modern era.
Outside of work (I've been in the insurance industry since 1981; Karla is a nutritionist) we've had the opportunity to travel in and out of the U.S. Still, one of our favorite destinations is Yosemite National Park, which is only about a 4 hour drive from our house.
