g's Story

After two months of treading water at Pasadena City College (water polo team) I dropped out and enlisted in the Air Force, returning to civilian life post-Vietnam. I had joined the service to learn a trade, but when I was released from active duty I was four years older but still without any marketable skills (though the CIA had approached me). Not knowing what else to do, I went back to school. Three years later I completed my undergraduate work at ASU and then spent another three years completing my M.div. at a seminary in Philadelphia. Later I did some post-graduate work at We...Expand for more
stminster in Escondido CA and additional sabbatical studies at Cambridge in the UK. During the intervening years I reenlisted in the military reserves as a Navy chaplain and over the course of the next 17 years served the Navy, Marine Corps and Military Sealift Command. Currently, when I'm not preaching, teaching, mentoring or consulting I'm retired and teaching myself to play the piano & clarinet by ear and I'm developing my photography skills. Finally, I have a couple of blogs on my website (myevensong.com) that I try to ignore though I do post a few essays on it now and again.
