Gary's Story

Life I got married in 1975 and moved to Australia where Lorraine had a two year teaching contract. (I spent the two years as a house keeper and a part-time game warden for the shire. I started to take American history classes at Riverina College (It's now Charles Stuat University)to see what other people thought about the U.S. Somehow I ended up as a lecturer in American literature for three terms. I also finished my degree at Melbourne University. When we got back to the U.S., I spent too many years working in law enforcement for the U.S. and State of Ohio, ending in 1990 as Assistant Director of Public Safety at Wright State University. when I had a cranial aneurysm. Stress can kill. Now I work for the National Audubon Society at Aullwood Audubon Center and Farm just north of Dayton as the resident computer geek and manager of publications. (See, a degree in English can be useful!) I also run the teen natural history program. Believe it or not, I actually decided I wanted to work here when I was 11! College Didn't finish at Wright State. I got married in 1975 and moved to Australia because my wife had a teaching contract with the New South Wales Ministry of Education. I spent from '75 to '77 as a house-husband. I did course work to finish my degree through Melbourne University.
