Gary's Story
After I left High School I joined the army in sept 58 and spent the next 6 years there. I was stationed in Germany for 42 months and liked it there. I met a girl and we were going to get married. We had a son in 1961 But she was from East Germany and was homesick so she went back across the wall and lived there.
When I got out of the army I went to work for GM and turned into an alcoholic for the next 16 years.
I quit drinking in 1982 and have not had a drink since.

ife now and I have been to all 50 states and were even married in Alaska. We have been to Germany once and will go back in 2009.
I come to Lapeer often just to walk downtown and remember all the good things about my youth.
I enjoy seeing old friends and talking about the (old days)
now it is later and I have a great-grandaughter in Germany. she was here last year and this year we will go to see her there. we have a grandaughter with downs that lives with us, she is a joy.
