Gavin's Story
After spending 45 years in Brazil having only spoken Portuguese the whole time, I am now pastoring an English speaking church in Sao Paulo.

I always wanted to be a missionary when I grew up. My family and friends thought that was a great idea. As it turns out, they were right.
I love to play the piano, but by ear.
I guess the wildest thing I ever did in school was to attempt to play a solo on the trumpet during a Assembly period.
If I'm going to work somewhere, I need to have the proper tools, people skills, and the proper attitude to be able to deal with the day-to-day.
My hero was always Abraham Lincoln, his desire to be truthful.
The one person from my past who I'd most like to see again is Richard Ricker, because he was my best friend.
I love football and baseball. I watch CSI and I have two beautiful kittens.
I lost my first wife with a heart attack. I then married a Brazilian. I brought two kids to the family, she brought four boys. What a surprise.
My son has taught me stick-to-it-ness and my daughter has taught be to be lovable.

My current age is 68. When I was 12, I thought that people my age now would be dead. I was so completely wrong.
Well, I always wanted to teach God's Word and I was given that privilege which allowed me to impact many lives for the kingdom of God.
My first crush was on Carolyn Hunter, but she got married to someone else. However, I did meet up with her again, nearly 50 years later.
Well, my trophies and metals were many having particated in many Musical Festivals over the years.
In 10 years, I hope to be still serving God. I'm going to get there by the grace of God..
My oldest friend was Richard Ricker, we clicked because we had similar interests. He ended up being a Pastor as well.
I think the thing that would surprise most is my fluency in the Portuguese language, since Mrs. Mole, my 7th grade language tacher, said I had no capability of ever learning a foreign language.
My first job was at The Niagara Falls Public Library, where I got paid 50 cents to stack books. What I remember most about it is having been interviewed by the first edition of the Sunday Gazette.
I had the privilege of meeting the great grandson John Paul Jones who visited our home.
