Gayle's Story
I've very much enjoyed reading the posted stories. Thank you, everyone.
I'm a wife, mom, and author, divorced, widowed, married again, and strangely, living in Maine after 40 years in Santa Barbara, CA. My son, Paul, is an attorney with the Department of Justice, living in Washington, D.C. My daughter, Julia, is a fashion executive in New York (I get hand-me-downs that are fabulous). My stepdaughter Deirdre is a musician in San Francisco, another stepdaughter, Heather, is an elementary school teacher in Maine, a third stepdaughter, Emily, is still in college, as is my one and only stepson, Jim. Whew. I love my extended family and feel very grateful to have so many wonderful people in my life.
My previous husband, Dennis, died in 2005 after a very long illness. He was a great man, and I'm fortunate for the two decades we had together.

es to play at LL Bean a couple of days a week. What a different life I have. In many ways Maine reminds me of Iowa -- four glorious seasons, and terrific people. We have 14 acres and a view of Mount Washington, 45 miles away. Who knew anyone could stand in one place and see 45 miles into the distance. Deer and wild turkeys have taken over our back yard. All of this is particularly fun when our grandchildren come to visit.
I'm still writing suspense novels that are still being published here in the U.S. and various places around the world. I cofounded, with David Morrell, International Thriller Writers (ITW), from which I'm now retired. ITW puts on a book and author festival called ThrillerFest every July In New York. I occasionally write short stories, although John has pretty much taken that over. As it turns out, he's a natural fiction writer.
I can't believe our class is close to our 50th graduation anniversary. I'm hoping there's a party!
