Geary's Story
I always wanted to be a painter/artist when I grew up. My family and friends thought that was a great idea. As it turns out, they were right.
I love to play music as well. I'm a guitarist, drummer and vocalist. Playing the drums and singing is my favorite job in the four bands I'm in. I've also rekindled an old passion of fishing. Being out in nature taking photos and sketching so I can produce a piece of art is an indescribable joy. And right now, painting seascapes have been absolutely addicting! = )
I'm a person who likes to have control of what ever I'm doing in either my working career or in my hobbies. When I'm making all the decisions, things always turn out the best.
My hero is(was) my Grampa Dial. He told me right up until the day he passed away, "Geary, there's not a single day that goes by that I don't learn something and gain great knowledge from."
Of all the teachers I had "Uncle" Wes Nichols is who'd I'd love to see again. Because he genuinely cared for people with a love that was the most Christ-like I (and about 10,000 others) witnessed while he was here.
At college I lived in the dorm for a couple of years. To this day, it was one of the best experiences of my life. SO many great friendships that have remained solid until this very day! Never had s...Expand for more
o much fun ...ever. There was just so much genuine heartfelt camaraderie.
My current age is 57. When I was 12, I thought that people my age now would be barely able to do anything fun. I was so completely wrong.
My career aspirations are continuing to evolve with regards to my artistic nature. I have more painting and drawing series of subjects and more music gigs planned than I ever could have imagined back in my school days! Life is turning out actually very well!
The weirdest job I ever had was when I was a teenager during the summer I took a job "flagging" crop dusters. Myself and another young man would step off exact same spaces from one end of a field to the other in order to "line up" the path that the airplane would need to spray a consistent charge of some of the most poisonous liquid the farming industry has ever manufactured. Then, by waving flags (in the daytime) or flashlights (at night) the pilot could fly within mere feet of the ground level to eject his bug killing payload. We wore handkerchiefs over our faces.
What would surprise everyone at my high school reunion? Well, first of all, that I actually showed up this time. Secondly, that I can sing just like Elvis. And hopefully my band will be there as the dancing entertainment to prove it. ; )
