Gene's Story
After three years of R.O.T.C. in school it was almost a given that military service was in my future.
I enlisted in the Navy after graduation and worked in the medical field. I married soon after my training at Great Lakes, Il. I've been stationed on both coasts and have been deployed to Asia, Australia and Africa. I'm now retired, re-married and have four beautiful, grown kids a...Expand for more

My favorite afloat duty station had to be the USS Bainbridge. She had a crew that was a small community, where almost everyone knew each other. My favorite shore assignment was NNMC Bethesda, Md. It is close to Wash.D.C. and the Naval Academy where my first daughter was born.I thoroughly enjoyed all that each duty station had to offer.
