Genevieve's Story
I am Genevieve Abeyta - The Normal School was my home from birth on till 1954. My dad started working at the Normal when Mr. Grant - Mr. Brown - Wallace and a group of men in around 1934, Need to check my records. I grew up there and knew students from the time I was a little girl till I grew up. It was such a wonderful childhood - growing up in the beautiful school - swimming (really wading) in the beautiful running fountains. Having the whole beautiful school as our playground. Dennis Salazar - David Borunda - Toasie - Benito and Lupe Juarez - Archie Dow - Michael and Eddie Branch - Danny - Richard and Paul Chavez - Goiozo and Mary - Beatrice Martinez - Ruby - on and on and on. I always felt the students where like family and they all had a great impact in my life. I must say again - living in faculty housing on campus - knowing the boarding students and feeling I was a part of them - also the town students who are remembered and loved. What fun.
