Genevieve's Story
Life
I'm living in Pittsburg KS with Ed, my husband of 25 years. I keep busy, visiting overnight often in Olathe KS where my mom lives in a nursing home, and spending time with my youngest daughter & her children (my youngest grandchildren, 2 & 4 yrs old). My other 6 grandchildren range in age from 16 to 25.
I retired 8 years ago (RN), but still put in a few hours a month if the hospital calls and really can't get along without me. I enjoy my co-workers and consider them my friends and social contacts.
I'm very in to digital photography, enjoy playing around with various editing programs but seldom get very serious about it. I'm sorta addicted to TV & love my DVR -- my husband refers to my DVR & computer as "the great wasters of time." He's right.

life, and am grateful to my mom and the Catholic nuns for a good education that enabled me to succeed in life.
Workplace
When my job of 11 years ended I decided to finish college & become a nurse. Since 1992 I have worked in the psychiatric unit of the one and only hospital in Pittsburg, KS, Mt. Carmel Regional Medical Center. For the past 8 years I have worked as a per diem employee -- I only work when I get called and am free always to say "no, I have other plans." Since nurses are in short supply, I get called much more often than I care to work. Nursing has turned out to be an ideal profession for me because I can work as much or as little as I want -- when I am busy or in the mood to loaf I say "no", yet when I want extra money for a special project I can say "yes, yes, yes".
