Geoffrey's Story

In my unconventional life thus far I have crossed paths with some of the most unique, unusual and interesting souls I am privileged to call friends. I seem to be living a writer's dream life, never knowing where or who or what or how dangerous what it is I will be up to next. I am currently working with someone on an incredible life story that's been in and out of the news in the last five years. He's an ex-CIA operative and still lives under threat of contracts on his life and so do his family and friends. He was approached 3 years ago to "negotiate" the release of Ingrid Bettencourt from the Colombian FARC. The "Feds" were a bit embarrassed that he was approached and decided to try to do it themselves. Basically, 3 years later, the hostages are finally rescued when it could have happened much much sooner. He's a very close friend of some 15 years now and he's a fashion photographer. As a result, I have spent quite a bit of time in the fashion world as well. I am also working on developing a new 1-hour dramatic "webisodic" (web streamed) series "Jessie's Girl." It is loosely based on things I experienced and observed during my years at PHS (then PJHS). Any of my fellow classmates who want to contact me with some great stories, please feel free to email me. I'd love to include them as themes or storylines. The concept is "Happy Days" meets "My So Called Life" with a little "American Dreams" and of course a little "Fast Times at Ridgemont High" thrown in. It's a more realistic look at the 1980's and those of you from Poolesville will instantly recognize Jimmie Cone in the concept webisode/video in the "theater" there. You can visit the Summer Storm Pictures website to see what it's all about. Jessie's ...Expand for more
Girl is very personal and ultimately dedicated to my brother Stuart who left this world far too early in 1984. Many of you probably knew him. He was an uncommonly talented artist. It is also dedicated to many of our friends we lost so young and so early and miss so dearly. A few come to mind like Wayne Bodmer, Ida Fox, Dean Ingleton and Melanie Reider. If I've missed any, I apologize and most likely it's because I don't like to think about it because it evokes such feelings of loss. On a "lighter note", I wrote "DarkWolf" for 20th Century Fox. Okay, it wasn't as bad as some say and it's far from as good as others claim. It was what it was and it was fun to do and the people involved, from the cast to the crew, were a pleasure to be around. The final movie isn't exactly what I envisioned as decisions out of my control took it down a much "bluer" path not at all anywhere near my taste, but that's life in '"the biz." I was in the office and on the set 24-7 from pre-production to postproduction, and for 16 straight nights of shooting. I even shot some 2nd unit shots (look for the foot jamming on the brake pedal; the jerky transition shots of the creature running; the moon rising). One of the original "pitches" was that we wanted to make "the best, worst horror movie" in the "B" movie genre. Only those who watched and suffered through it can make that case, but overall, as far as an experience for me, it was neat to hang out with Tippi Hedren and the other actors. Finally, I believe that if one does not strive for the impossible in life, it is an insult to the great Giver¿s miracle of life. People are my passion. As a writer, each new person whose story I stop to listen to is an extra day added to my life.
