George's Story
I guess I do not have a great past as I see many of my former classmates have. when I left AFA (Admiral Farragut Academy) I went directly into the service of course Navy. I had a lot of problems at home and I felt I had only one direction to go. I took my physical first in Philadelphia Pa. which I flunked due to a heart murmur, however I convinced my Recruiter in Toms River to lose the paperwork and send me to Newark, NJ to retake the Physical again. I passed and off I went. I really loved being part of the Navy, part of something worth wild and despite my issues at home with my family I pursued my dream. Shortly after being in there I got real sick and had to make a choice of whether I was going to sit state side behind a desk or take a M4 Medical Discharge under honorable conditions. I was 19 maybe 20 at the time and just didn't think everything through as I should and took t...Expand for more
he discharge. If I could have only changed things then.
Anyway, I left the service and shortly after got married at 22. Things did not go well there and divorced, and I had one son who was killed at the age of 6 by a drunk driver who lived out of state was here on business and only got a slap on the wrist and paid a small fine. At the same time my mother passed and this took its toll on me. From here I attempted to continue with my life and go to college this lasted for about 3 yrs then I got married again at the age 31. Alice (my wife) and I lived together and moved around till we settled in Middletown, NY. There I attempted to start a family at the age of 43. I have 3 boys Robert 13, Nick 11, Collin 9.
I still live in Middletown, NY and at times remember the Good times I had Admiral Farragut Academy and all the things that were important to me. Its funny where life leads us.
