20th birthday April 23, 1960 and married 10/15/60. My husband was offered an opportunity to move us to Sherman. The man who leased George's truck let us use his trailer to move us.
We moved to Texas in August, 1978. George was on over the road truck driver and I was so to speak a single Mom, raising two teenagers in a strange place. But I got myself involved with the PTO and went back to work. A thing I was never going to have to do when we first moved here. but the company that moved us here filed for bankruptcy 5 months after we moved here.
George had his 50th class reunion 2008 and it was a blast. Their turnout was great. They even had some of their teachers there. That made it special for a lot of the attendees.
It's been difficult not having George here every day. But he was ill for more than a year.
He had Home Hospice for 3 months before passing on, He is free from pain and suffering. He had a beautiful funeral and bereavement luncheon following the burial. I'm trying to get back into some of the things I enjoyed before he needed me home as his caregiver. It was more than a year, but I kept him home, and that meant a lot to him. I started back with St. Mary's Women's guild and St. Vincent de Paul Society.. Getting back into the swing of things and enjoying my children and grand children.
