George's Story
Family -
Right after High School I met a girl. The girl of dreams and soon to be the love of my life. After 37 good years, 2 boys, 1 grandson and ton of great memories, life is still getting better.
Work -
37 years in Public Works working for three different municipalities. I started at the bottom as a laborer for the City of Anaheim 1974. In 1977 I joined the Street Division in the City of San Luis Obispo. I had many opportunities to learn the many facets to street maintenance and was able to advance through the ranks to the number 2 position in the Streets Division. In 1993 moved to Lodi to become the Streets & Drainage Manager. Some of the areas of responsibility included the maintenance of 200 miles of street pavements, sidewalks, trees, traffic signals, and a storm system with a 160 miles of line. In addition to overseeing the maintenance of the City storm drainage system, I was the primary contact for the CityâÂÂs NPDES SWMP.
Over the couple of decades I have had many opportunities to meet with all types of people, citizens, politicians, suppliers and peers. I know what good customer service is, and I know how to deliver it.
During my career I had the opportunity to be active in a few associations.

on since 1983. During that time I had been allowed to serve in two chapters and the Executive Board. I went through the officer chairs in the North Central Valley Chapter and then the Executive Board chairs and was the E-Board President in 2000. I was also the Conference chair in 2002 for the very successful Sacramento conference. Over the past 26 years I have made many friends and acquaintances through out the state.
In 2004 I was approached by Dr. Shaker Shatnawi and Gary Hildebrand with an idea they came up with called the Pavement Preservation Task Force. The idea was a three way partnership between Caltrans, Industry and Local Agencies to promote pavement preservation. I was asked to put together the local agency sub group. I was very active with the PPTG for four years. This involvement included annual two day workshops addressing just about every kind of pavement maintenance imaginable.
