George's Story

Life I've been married to Gina Gugliotti, from Watertown Connecticut, since 1998. Gina and I met at Boston University, where I was a graduate student...she was an undergraduate in my department. We have a beautiful 5-year old little girl named Charlotte Rose, who is starting kindergarten soon, and a totally cute toddler, Abigail Cameron, who just turned 2 years old. I currently work as a Senior Lecturer of Astronomy at Bentley College's Natural and Applied Sciences Department (one of the top business schools in the country), in Waltham, Massachusetts, where I teach astronomy and astrophysics. I have designed a number of natural science electives in astronomy, including "Life in the Universe" and "Planetary Exploration in the Space Age." My teaching interests include the recent NASA missions to Mars, Jupiter, and Saturn, along with the discoveries of extra-solar planets. You can learn more about my work by going to the Bentley college website (I guess I can't post a URL), and go to the Natural and Applied Sciences Department link. In my spare time I play a lot of softball in several very competitive leagues in Eastern Massachusetts, where in one such league, I finished the 2004 summer season by leading the league in hitting (.776 average), en rout...Expand for more
e to a league championship! In 2005, in another league, I finished the season as the team's Co-MVP and gold glove outfielder. [Who knew, right? :)] This season (2007) was going well -- I was batting over .600 -- until I tore my quadricep muscle while running to first. My fall league status is in jeopardy...in fact, I am now out for the season, but still coaching as team co-captain. I also love spending time with my family and playing with my daughters in the backyard, and I am a passionate hockey fan -- my wife and I have season tickets for Boston University hockey, the 2006 Hockey East Champions!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WOO HOO! And of course, Patriots, Bruins, and Red Sox....but I still have the White Sox, Bears, Blackhawks, and Bulls in my heart. I hope you will take the time to drop me a line and tell me what is up with you. I'd love to get back in touch with the many friends who I had at BG. Instead of signing the guestbook, so I can see who's been reading this, just send me email at: gfishman_at_bentley_dot_edu (hopefully when I write it this way, you'll figure out what I mean, since they frown on posting email addresses. I would be happy to keep in touch with you that way. Sorry about not making it the reunion. My best to everyone, George
