George's Story
I was born in Bayonne,N.J. attended Horace Mann grade school and I went to Bayonne High School for about a year. My parents and I moved to Calif. and I attended Huntington Park High where I graduated from in 1962! Music has always been a large part of my life and to this day I enjoy it just as much as the days when I use to play my drums! I think about the old days-old times-old friends quite a lot! You can take a look at the band that I was in (sixties) by going to the YouTube website and typing in Royale Monarchs. ........ 12/31/17 It's new years eve and for some reason I feel like a walk down memory lane. At least my memory lane! As in the Neil Diamond's song "" I Am I said "" I too am lost between two shores, Bayonne NJ and Huntington Park So. Cal. Growing up in Bayonne was great. ys) practicing their drum corps routines at Hudson County Park, In winter there was double hill with your flexible flyer racing down hill. When the pond was frozen, ice skating FOR FREE! Now the food--Charlotte Ruse , Italian ice on ave C . Pizza or mussels in marinara sauce at Naples on Broadway. Ice cream sodas at Hardings or Shaiperos, or Wandas deli as you walk in, the smell of saw dust .pickles and cold cuts and fresh baked bread. Uncle Miltys Arcade down at the water....Moving to Cal. was hard for me. My clothes I wore, the way I talked, the way I combed my hair was different. I had a hard time fitting in. Then I met some friends who would become my life long friends. Also one day in class some guy was ragging on me and this girl stood up for me and really let him have it! To this day I remember that. Her name was SHARON ARSENIAN! Well, like in the end of Benda Lee's song " Sweet Nothins " THATS ENOUGH FOR TONIGHT!.... Next time I will talk about my experience in my band The Royale Monarchs.
