George's Story
Hello all!
You may remember that I spent most of my school years working after school at Tyler Home Supply and our family farm in Lanesboro. My senior year was as a freshman at WPI and I graduated with a BS in Mechanical Engineering in 1977. I joined the Edison Engineering program at GE Ordnance in Pittsfield and completed their Engineering Leadership program with a MS in Mechanical Engineering from RPI in 1980.
I married the former Frances Link of Pittsfield in 1980 and we are celebrating 40 years of marriage this year. We have two children, Larry is married and teaching music and coaching high school basketball in Louisville, NC.. Larry and Megan have two children 5 yrs and 2 yrs old. Lauren is an interior designer working from home in NJ for a firm that manages and renovates a variety of hotels. They were awarded the contract to restore the Hotel Saranac in Saranac Lake, NY which is now open. We stayed there while touring the Adirondaks last year.

achines were removed from the GE Ordnance facility in Pittsfield, the business area I was involved in was moved to Burlington, VT and so we moved up there in 1999. When that business also decided to become a virtual company and moved their machines out, I joined a local outdoor power equipment company and worked with them in design, manufacturing support, quality assurance, and compliance with international product safety regulations for 10 years.
When we moved to Vermont, I also followed my calling from Junior High to become a part time minister in a local church, first by taking classes for 5 years to become a Certified Lay Minister and then going to seminary at Andover Newton Theological School in Boston for another 5 years. I was ordained as an American Baptist Pastor in 2010 and retired after 35 years of engineering in 2012. We sold our house and downsized to a condo to match our current and future retirement income. I currently serve a church in Springfield, Vermont.
