George's Story
Following graduation I worked the summer at Fieldcrest and then went in the Marine Corps. I was in the Corps for four years, two months, twenty three days and two hours. This included one tour in Viet Nam.
After the Marines I went to VCU. I continued my studious ways from high school and was able to maintain my C- average. I graduated in 1971 and worked at the school for one year.
In July of 1972 I began working for the
Departmen for the Blind and Visually Impaired and worked there until 1994. While working there I obtained my Masters Degree.
Since 1994 I have worked as a courier, substitue mail carrier, salesman, and also worked for First Virginia Bank and Bank of America.
I currently work part-time at Randolph Macon College, Fairmount Christian Church, and do some...Expand for more
landscaping work.
My wife and I raised four children (one deceased). My children were adopted and came from Korea and Viet Nam. I have four grand children.
I am a deacon in my church, a Lion, a member of the Amerincan Legion and VFW and worked with the Scouts for 20 years.
I have been on mission trips to Haiti five times. I also make two trips a year to Mountain Mission School in Grundy and have been to Ninos Mexico.
I have been married to the same lady since 1975. She is from Staunton and has one leg shorter than the other to compensate for standing on the mountains. I have four adopted children.
Although many things have changed over the years I remain the same serious guy you knewand loved. I would publish a picture but I really do get better looking everyday.
