When I learned in 1991 (first heart attack) that I was eventually going to die, I decided that I would LIVE. Got my first tattoo at 52 and my second at 54, third at 61 for Sharon's birthday her name and a rose on my right bicep, first triple by-pass at 52 (a new life, the second since being 'born again' in the early 70's). Most important to me: Jesus, Sharon (my better half), Jasmine, Clyde, Samson (lost Samson in November 2007), Dax (the cats), (lost Fred, my best friend of 18 years and 4 months, in 1999), our friends, and at the very end of the list, the compute...Expand for more
r. One gets to feel that way after working on them all hours. Sold the sports car and purchased a Ford Freestyle; too embarrassing to fall into and climb out of the sports car. November 2006 sold the business and retired and had an ICD Implant (now I have to jump in front of a train to die; not many trains in Roswell, New Mexico so I guess I am safe for a while). Working on a family website oiccs and a family memorial site, lee-memorial and young-memorial. Trying to get family connected. Just lost my little brother, October 31, 2012 and that got me into updating those sites. A little more than 6 months ago on Sept. 18, 2021 I lost my bride of 44 years to cancer. It was a tough time and I had a falling out with God because of my mistaken understanding of His Promise to me. About 2 weeks later, He told me that Sharon had to go with Him first. As I thought about it, HE is right. I was with her and holding her hand when she passed. At her funeral, I waited until her grave was filled in and felt probably the greatest relief of my life; I took care of her and made her safe and not alone until the very end. I know that she cannot see me from heaven because in heaven, there is NO pain either physical nor mental but she will be waiting for me and know when I arrive to greet me with open arms as we became one when we were married. She would have felt alone and abandoned had I died first and left no one to care for her. I will take care of myself until the Lord decides that it is time for me to join her. I updated this as one of the chores of "getting my life in order" before I go. We had no children but I have a stepson from my first marriage and also acquired a "kinda-sorta" adopted son over the years who will make sure that I am in the ground beside Sharon (and take care of the four remaining cats).
