George's Story

11/26/14 Hello Again, Pam & I have left Hawaii, and have permanently retired to Brooksville Florida. There is an awesome retirement village here named Cloverleaf Farms. This is the place that my Mom spent the last twelve or so years of her life. I had visited her, back in the nineties, and was always impressed with Cloverleaf. Pam and I retired on May 31st (in Hawaii) and spent our first night in our new Florida home on June 3rd, (this year). The homes here are unbelievably cheap as they are "Manufactured Homes." We were able to buy our first home for $11,500. completely furnished. About 1000 sq. ft. and clean as a whistle. It was smaller then Pam wanted, but I had agreed that if she didn't like it, we would buy another. At the price we paid, it was no big deal. At these prices, (less then the cost of a used car) no-one really has to have a mortgage. The lot rent is $480 a month, and it includes lot rent, water, garbage collection, and lawn mowing. Pam took me at my word, and within the first eight days, she had found a house she liked better (12,500 sq. ft.) on a big corner lot, I had to agree it was nicer and bigger with a better location, and so we bought that one too. Putting that first house up for sake, we sold it after a couple months for 10K We've been here six months now, and Brooksville is a dream come true. After the nightmare is the Hawaii Socialist Republic, (with over sixty years of pure Democrat rule, it is totally corrupt and now owned buy Monsanto). The light and the space of Florida, has to be seen to be believed. If we wanted crowds and noise and heavy traffic like Hawaii, we could have moved to Tampa or Orlando or another of the crowded rat race areas. Instead, we chose a queit rural town, with more things to do then anyone could ever ask for. If anyone is worried about how they will ever afford retirement, I cannot say enough about Brooksville.... except you should come down here and see what a viable option it can be for a place that is geared for us older folks. This is truly God's Waiting Room. People can certainly do worse then lives in a place where it never snows. If you ave any questions, feel free to write me care of Classmates. I'd love to share what we have have learned in the last six months since our retirement. Just a couple last things, Groceries in Brooksville are 54% cheaper then they are in Hawaii, and gas today in Brooksville was $2.63 per gal.compared to $4.35 per gal. in May when we left Hawaii. Stay Well, and take Care.... Geo. & Pam March 19, 2013 Hi Kids: The latest from Hawaii is a story about growing older. In my last update, I reported that I had bought myself a dirt bike, and got back into trail riding. Well, on December 30th of 2012, I had a horrific crash. I was riding in the rain, and hit a hole (with a 45 degree angled root on the far rim). The handle bars ripped to right and I high sided, landing on my left chest. I didn't roll or slide, but came to an instant stop. I was wearing a chest protector, (which slide to the side and concentrated the force of the crash to the back side of my rib cage). The pain was indescribable. I was about a mile and a half from where my truck was parked. I was riding with a friend, and he soon rode up to find me writhing on the ground, moaning and groaning in agony. He was sure that I had a heart attack. Eventually the pain diminished enough that I was able to explain that I fell, and was sure I had broken some ribs. After about five minutes of laying flat on the ground, with help, I was able to slowly sit up. After another five minutes, with help I was able to stand, and remount my motorcycle. I then rode back to where my truck was parked. I was still in great pain, but didn't feel like calling an ambulance. My friend helped me get out of my riding gear, (boots, pants, shirt, shoulder pads and chest protector, knee and elbow guards). He then loaded my bike and tied it down. I was at a motocross track on the far side of Oahu, and about 35 miles away from home. I then drove myself home, where my housemate met me. It took fifteen minutes to get out of my truck and into his. The pain was all but unbearable. We then went to a nearby hospital, and after being checked in and x-rayed, I was found to have three broken ribs, and four fractured on my left side for a total of seven. I spent three nights in the hospital, living on morphine pills and suffering lots of pain, even with morphine.. To shorten this long story, I slowly recovered with the help of my Lady Friend, Pam. I moved in with her for about seven weeks, and her caring help allowed me to slowly recover until I returned to work (full time) on February 20th. I still have some twinges and the break points kind of burn when I lean against a seat back. I now have a much better idea what real pain is. In all my 67 years I've never experienced that level of pain. If I wasn't in the shape I was, I'm sure the healing process would have taken much longer. The motorcycle is up for sale now. I promised Pam and I will concede to her better judgement, and give up trail riding. I hope you folks back in Connecticut have enjoyed all your snow and cold this past winter. Thank God for "Global Warming," right? Until Next Time, Aloha from George M. Hello All: It's me again. Life remains awesome. I'm still healthy and I'm still working six days a week. I love my job, and it's great to be able to afford to live in Hawaii. My newest hobby is that I have gotten back into riding a dirt bike. I picked up a 2008 Honda CRF230F and I'm loving it. I'll see if I can find some pictures to upload. Hey, how about that voter fraud "election," that just passed in November. It wasn't a tragedy that it happen...Expand for more
ed. Everyone that has paid attention to the events of the last four years...... knows that Obama is an ineligible Chicago Thug, and a corrupt usurper. The tragedy is that the GOP laid down in surrender.... and gave up all rights to protest the fraud. Our country has been given away to the corporations and drug companies. We are being poisoned by chemtrails and GMO tainted foods, and the evil masters reap the rewards of their evil ways. "Other then that, Mrs. Lincoln..... How was the play?" It's a rainy day, here in paradise. The weather patterns are all changed due to weather modification. The rain is good though. It's been so long, that the farms were hurting for water. I know I previously promised to upload more photos, and I offer no excuse rather then laziness. I have never lost my love of photography. and now with the cell phone camera and digital (free) pictures, my Shutterfly albums are stuffed. No more promises, but I will attempt to get off my dead butt and share my life with those of you that have any interest in this old classmate. With Love and Aloha to all, Geo. M. Dear Classmates: Another update, (for September 2011), Finally, good news to report.... I got in just under the wire. I have started collecting S/S and have gotten a couple of checks. I am so happy that S/S lasted until now, before going completely broke. Having finally arrived, it's now time for it to collapse completely. That way it goes. As soon as I join a thing, that's the end. For example, in 2000, i invested my life savings into the stock market. After ten years of going in one direction (up), it immediately reversed the decade long trend, an collapsed. Within two months I was locked in, and in six months.... I made a small fortune. Unfortunately, I had started with a large one. So now, I still work full time, and the last few months of the S/S Ponzi fund, have made life much easier. We have been eating out a lot more, and Amazon.com has been enjoying their most profitable year, ever. Life could not be better for me. For instance, yesterday after work, I rode my "LifeCycle," recumbent exercise bike eleven miles in 48 minutes. I wake up early every day..... pain free, and in a positive state of mind. Of course, that's not hard to do when one lives in paradise. To show you what I haveI'll add some more pictures, and take off the stale old ones sometime in the near future. In the meantime, thanks to all of you for showing an interest in my profile and photo album. It's good to see my classmates once more... It's funny that most do not bother to upload their photos. I enjoy the ones that do, You know who you are...LOL. Aloha for now. Geo. M. **************************************************************************************************************** (last update) This is my "Classmates Gold," renewal update for 2011. After Thirteen plus years in Hawaii, I have never been in better health or happier. My hobbies are, many and varied.. such as walking, bowling, and recumbent bikes. I still have my Surfski Kayak, but haven't been out as much lately (because my time is being occupied in other areas with other interests). The Epic Sport sits on it's cradle and wait patiently for me to take it out again. I like fixing and repairing things. Cars, trucks, motorcycles, electric equipment, and I recycle things that I find on the side of the road, (put out for bulk trash pickup). On of the most valuable finds was a Honda Elite scooter I found a couple of years ago. My son (Mike) and I replaced a few parts, and he now rides it full time (on Maui). I still work full time, and have no intention of retiring. It's just is not financially possible. I have always spent and spent and spent my dollars, (while they were still worth something). I was retired for four years starting in 1997, but the stock market decided that I had rested too long, and took away all of my money. It's an old story, and many people can tell the same one. Luckily, I found a job that I absolutely love. I'm the Chief Mechanical Technician for a Solar Supply Warehouse. I keep the whole place running, and I work six days a week. My health remains excellent (knock wood), and I employ a good diet and exercise to stay that way. I'm truly blessed to wake up every morning in paradise, pain free and having a place to go, and be paid to do something I LOVE TO DO. Life could not be better for me. I have the three things that make happiness in one's life..... "I have something to do, something to hope for, and someone to love," It doesn't get any better then this. I've been sparring with type II diabetes for the last twenty-five years or so, and still holding my own through diet and exercise. I take three pills once a day. It just occurred to me that in another two years, we will be celebrating our fiftieth anniversary of the Class of '63. How cool is that? After a five year dry spell, I've finally connected with a significant other, (thru the internet via Match.Com). Life has always been better with a loving woman by my side. Everyone talks about how they like to "Walk on the Beach." Well, Pam and I do just that, nearly every weekend. Her condo is within walking distance of the famous Kailua beach. This is the same beach where the "golfer in Chief" stays, when he vacations in Hawaii. The Secret Service clowns stand on the beach in dark suits and ties, and turn away the beach strollers when they get too close. It is truly bizarre, God Bless America, and save her from the evil career politicians that infect Washington, D.C. (District of Corruption). And yes,,,, I consider myself a "Career Conservative." As a wise man once said...: "If you're not a liberal by twenty, you have no heart...... and if you're not a conservative by forty, you have no brain." With Fond Aloha, George M.
