George's Story

Hi, I recently posted a link on my Facebook page to my latest published short story. Dave H. and Doris W. have read and left comments about it. If you like short stories, or are just curious, give it a read, and leave me a comment. As for what I have been up to: After 41 years of practicing law, four in the Air Force, and the rest in private practice in Orlando, I retired in February 2015. I've been married to Yvonne since 1969 and have two grown sons and three grandchildren. I've been in regular contact with Doug Cameron, and Ken Mermer until his passing in Oct. 2017, and the three of us have done an annual guys' trip for many years (the FL keys snorkeling, river rafting in Maine, boating on the St. Johns River in FL or similar ilk). Doug and I have continued. For the past several years, I've been writing f...Expand for more
iction and submitting short stories to literary journals for possible publication. If you are interested in reading any, you can find links to some of the publications if you Google "George August Meier." I tried including a few links, but Classmates does not allow links. Drop me a note if you read any. Doug and I attended the 50th reunion. and it was a great event. Ken was sick and missed it, but Doug and I drove to New Hampshire and paid him a quick visit the day prior. As of this update (Oct. 2019) Yvonne and I are in the process of building a house on the ocean in Wilbur By the Sea, which is a community just north of Ponce Inlet, Florida. Hope you are all living wonderful lives. Be well, George PS - I have posted three photos of Doug, Ken, and I, from High School, post high school, and a bit more recent.

Here's the latest member of the Meier family—Millie. She joined us this past summer and is a 10- month old yellow lab. She is very sweet and very mischievous. Shoes are her favorite toys. 😀
Just closed on selling our house (pictured). The new house is ready for drywall and stucco. We are moving from Seminole County, just north of Orlando, to Volusia County, just south of Daytona Beach. It's quite an adventure
It's hard to believe, but 53 years ago today, Yvonne and I were married at the Congregational Church on Wantagh Ave. in Wantagh, N.Y. We are and have been living a great life and are still in love. I can swear to it and tha

Hi, This is our first 4th of July in our new place. Happy Independence Day from Wilbur-By-The-Sea, FL. Our forefathers were pretty gutsy to sign that document which was an affront to the strongest country in the world at t
