I started my career as a bank examiner on December 3, 1979 with the Arkansas Banking Department. I advanced from trainee to Examiner-in-Charge for small institutions.
I left the Arkansas department on April 6, 1984, and joined the Kansas Banking Department on April 18, 1984, where I could performed the duties of an Examiner-in-Charge for any state chartered bank in Kansas.
On May 18, 1988, I was promoted to Field Office Supervisor for the Topeka, Kansas, territory.
During my time in this position, I supervised, trained, scheduled, and evaluated more than 20 commercial examiners and four trust examiners. In addition, over the years, I was responsible for the safety and soundness of at least 65 State Chartered Banks. I worked in this capacity until December of 1998, when I accepted the position of Review Examiner in the departmentÂs main office.

I am responsible for the comprehensive, statewide program of oversight and regulation for financial service providers (state banks, trust departments and trust companies) and serve as the operations manager for all territories in our department.
My duties include:
1) Supervising 45 bank examiners, including 8 field supervisors and 3 review examiners;
2) Overseeing the scheduling of examinations for all field offices;
3) Ensuring the compliance of statutory rules and regulations;
4) Coordinating examinations with Federal regulatory agencies;
5) Overseeing the examination review process;
6) Coordinating and conducting regularly scheduled supervisors' meetings;
7) Overseeing the writing and implementation of all examination policies and procedures; and
8) Recruiting, interviewing, and hiring bank examiners.
Military
I served aboard a Submarine Tender called the USS Hunley, and I was assigned to the supply division. I had my first child while in the navy and she was born on the island of Guam.
