George's Story
Life
Amber is now 7 yrs old now and Sammy is 3 yrs old and we have a thrid one on the way.
I have been involved in my local community as Vice President of the local civic association. Working with local politicians, JPSO, corporate neighbors to better the way of life here in Waggaman.
I have been pressing for a referendum for a new municipality for all of Greater New Orleans. Instead of 150,000 to 200,000 citizens of Orleans Parish, we need a municipal government that represents all of the 1.5 million people that encompass the surrounding parishes of Greater New Orleans. It is time for us all to come together to use the tax-base, voter-base and resources of all of the surrounding parishes to help rebuild a ¿Greater New Orleans¿.
Since Katrina, New Orleans has been put into the international spotlight and the people who are representing us are not looking out for the best interest of this region. We need a voice that represents everyone from the Northshore to Chalmette, from Kenner to Belle Chase. When the "so-called Mayor" of New Orleans opens his mouth he needs to be speaking for the entire region and not costing people their jobs.
Workplace
Well, now I am running 4 companies.
I started off with GAP One Enterprises, which is George A. Peterson, one-man enterprise. I represent different types of business services from...Expand for more
Promotional Products like t-shirts and pens to Printing, Signage, Credit Card Proscessing, ATMs, Payphones and other vending services.
Next, I started ATM's of the South with a partner back around 1998. We are now up to 1000 ATM locations with approx. 20 employees.
And most recently, I started a new venture, 10-8 Tactical Gear & Supply. It is a retail law enforcement supply and gun shop. We plan to open an indoor shooting range and training facility within 3 to 5 years.
UPDATE: I have left ATM's of the South after ten years of building the company and taking it through the recovery process after Hurricane Katrina. It was kind of freeing to be able to walk away and venture out on my own without having such an abusively selfish partner. I immediately started a new ATM company that is my own. I have built this type of company before and I will do it again. Another door opened and I am also working on building an Amusements company. We will be putting out jukeboxes, pooltables, games and eventually video poker. These two businesses work hand-in-hand with each other. So be on the look out for 1st Assurance ATM and GT Amusements.
This past week I went to Baton Rouge to be sworn in as a member of the Republican State Central Committee for my district. It is always an honor and priviledge to be able to serve my community.
