Life Am in the process of buying what will, for now, be a vacation home in Venezuela. I've visited there several times in the last few months and have found it's anything but a "third world" country. Contrary to propaganda... The entire town that I'm interested in has wireless internet service, available for about $20 a month. On my last visit I had a rental car which had a 14 gallon gas tank. At one point stopped to fill it up from dead empty. The cost was less than a dollar and works out to about eight cents a gallon. Gas is more in some places but the highest I've ever paid is 17 cents a gallon. There are almost zero taxes in Venezuela. Property taxes on a $75,000 home are about $25 a year. Water service is free. You don't need heating for your home as the temperature remains almost the same year 'round. Average of 77F in the winter and 84F in the summer. Medical care is absolutely free of charge. If you want a "private" doctor, an office call wil come to around $5. Car insurance, for full coverage, is about $300 a year. The people in Venezuela really like Americans believe it or not.
