George's Story
About George Cormany
Photography has always been a passion of mine. In the beginning I was just a viewer of photographs and then finally as an author. I also found it to be a vehicle that allowed me to travel back in time, not just for historical purposes, but as an aesthetic voyage of the soul.
My inspiration for my style of photography was derived in my childhood from viewing simple snapshots from family photo albums of my friends and relatives. I discovered in those unpretentious, yet meaningful photographs that expressed to me captivating stories and engaging personalities about each individual that had been preserved forever as an image. g traveled all over Europe, England and the Orient including gorgeous Central America, I have exercised creativity in my documentarian style of photography to produce a myriad of breathtaking shots. I am a constant tourist, no matter where I am I continue in my search for the next great photograph.
Graduating with an AA degree in photographic science from Cypress College I was privileged to major in portraiture and earn an additional BA degree in Photography from the prestigious Brooks Institute of Photography in Santa Barbara, California.
My past professional vocations include serving as an intern with the Los Angeles Times, working as a Wire Photo Operator for the Associated Press and spending 20 years with the Los Angeles Police Department as a crime scene photographer were I was assigned to photograph historic cases such as the Rodney King and the O.J. Simpson homicide investigation.
All of my encounters, combined with my perpetual love for photography, allow me to take unique, memorable photographs that will incite nostalgia and endure the hands of time.
