George's Story

Life After I graduated I went directly into the Navy not wanting to be drafted After being sent to Viet Nam I was prety fed up with the service, I saw a little more action then I wanted. I got into electronics and then into computers. I got out and got married, that didn't last more than six months. I worked in Rochester then in Caledonia for couple of years got remarried, was unhappy with the New York politics and headed West settled in Kansas worked for myself and became a cowboy for a while had to come back to Caledonia due to my wife's health. Left a Son burried in Kansas, Had a Daughter born in Kansas and another Son in N.Y. I went back to work in Rochester for the same people Stomberg-Carlson the the recession of 73 hit and got fed up with Stromberg quit with 24 other young techs and decided to back in the service after being out for 8 years. My son was born with Spina-biffa and along with my wife's deteriating medical condithion, service connected medical benifits seem like the way to go. I was about 8 years older than everyone else so that was interesting. I got to see 78 diff. countries and got into computers, advanced in rank quickly and started teaching in service's secondary education schools. That was for about half of my career. My injury that I received in Viet Nam repelling down mountains started acting up and had to retire after 22 years in the Navy. I was able to retire at 47 with my military and disablement. The state finally took my wife after I took care of her for 22 years and put her into a care facility. I met the mother of the boy that went with my daughter, Ginger and we all decided that it wasn't good for both her and I being alone, She had been divorced for several years. My daughter and her son had two children Desiree and Destiny and her son, Aaron was just like my own son too. He had gone with my daughter all through jr. and High school. She had another son, a marine. We hit it off quite well and he had three children Heather, J...Expand for more
ami, and Christian. He is a Drag racer quite, good actually. His name is Kenny Farrell and he has quite a win record and we are proud of him. Both of her boys are quite intellengent. Besides Kenny being a professioal racer he has a carbon fiber business and builds a lot of parts for Nascar and Drag racing. Aaron is a forman for a cemical distribution company and builds and maintains websights, You can find them on line under Blazingweb designs for Aaron and Carbon Fiber Manufacturing, INHRA, NHRA, and NSCA FOR Kenny. He set all sorts of records this year like 201.16 MPH and 6.843 seconds in a door slammer and a 632 ci engine After my youngest Shawn graduated we followed the grandkids to Georgia where they were now everyone are in South Carolina except my youngest who still resides in Atlanta area Shawn plays wheel chair basketball for the Atlanta Rolling Hawks. Shawn is my favorite I guess, He has a great personality and has had a hard life having over 50 surgeries to correct his birth defects. Him and I are real close and I pretty much raised both my children but while I wasn't much use to my daughter with her needing mother influence and while I could teach my son all my man traits. He is 31 now, I am feeling my age now I am 62 and the many injuries to my body are comming back to haunt me. I was always so healthy that it is hard to get used to my ailments. I have nine heart bypasses done eight since August but I am stong and almost indistructable. I stay real busy with a multiude of projects. I am seperated form my latest wife, we argue to much and I need peace and tranquility in my life now and am happy living in my Camper with all the gadgets. I need. I hope some day to get back to see some of my classmates although I probably never impresed anyone much. I have been back to Oakfield and when I was I asked a young studernt if anyone still talked about my being a protector of the weak reputation but my legend had died out. I still am a protector of the weak.
