Georgetta's Story
I attended Delsure Elementary, later known as Westside during 1st and 2nd grade. Continued at Joshua School graduating in 1962. Attended Antelope Valley Joint Union High School from 1963 - 1966.
I married LeRoy Goodman Jan. 1968. We had two boys, Corbin & George Thomas
(Tommy). We moved from Lancaster in 1983 to El Dorado, AR where we remain
today. We lost our first son (Corbin) in 1987 to a hit and run driver, he was 17.
Tommy is now 37 and still lives here in El Dorado. Both of our sons attended
Desert View Elementary and Eastside Union School in Lancaster. Tommy graduated from Old Union High in 1990, Old Union, AR.
I was employed by the El Dorado Police Department for 25 years. LeRoy was
employed by Union County Road Dept as a truck driver. He retired in 2006.
I attended South Arkansas University (now South AR Community College)
having earned an associates degree. Tommy attended there as well after graduation earning a degree in welding.
My parents George and Beatrice Wallace (now deceased) lived in Lancaster
from 1954 to 1976 when they moved back here. Dad had his own trucking company, which my brother Roy Wallace and his son Aaron Wallace now operate.
Our family attends Hickory Grove Chapel.
My life-time friend, Carol Dean Schaumann-Nay-Blount moved out here with
her two girls, Deanna and Virginia in 1983. Carol passed away Dec. 16, 2004.
Our closest friends while going to school were: Carol Moran, Valerie Baker,
Lee Ann Glines, Darlene Sapp (now Presley). I am hoping that I will meet up w/them here on Classmates or in my facebook.
I love animals, animals, animals! Helped pass the Felony Animal Cruelty law
here in the State of AR. Worked as a Youth Director/Minister from 1988 to
2004. I now teach Youth Sunday school. Teenagers became my life! I became Vice President of Mothers Against Drunk Driving Union County Chapter from 1988-1990 to which I am still an advocate.
I love to read, write poetry, draw, craft. I am in the process of writing a book about Corbin, his life and what we went through while he was in intensive care for the last eight weeks of his life. Maybe someday you ...Expand for more
will see it in print.
I guess that about sums up my story for now. I may think of something to add
later.
God bless you all and I hope to meet all of you again!
Georgetta Wallace Goodman
I guess I would have to name my mother & father as my heroes. My mother was the strongest woman that I ever knew. She went through many, many hard times, but still came out on top. She was a wonderful friend, confidant, and mother. She always supported me in all of my endeavors whether I accomplished them or not. Dad was always there for me as well. He worked hard to provide for his family. He too went through a lot of valleys, but overcame all of them. Both of my parents were wonderful Christian people and led me to where I am today in my Christian walk. They never turned down anyone in need. They too loved children and had many foster children during their lifetime. Dad is the reason a Youth Ministry was started at the church we attended. I have had many influences during my life, but my parents were my heroes!
The one person from my past who I'd most like to see again is Roseanne LeDhea (pronounced Lah-dee), because she was my first friend when we moved to Lancaster..
If I won $100 million, I'd give 10% of it to my church, then spend the rest on the needy, young people and the elderly..
To be truly happy I would need to be in Heaven with all my loved ones and God.
I spoke about Carol Schaumann Nay Blount earlier in my story. She and I met in 3rd grade at Joshua School. We were both loners I guess you could say. I befriended Carol because everyone made fun of her. I did not think that was fair at all. I really do not know what caused us to become life-long friends, we were as opposite as day and night! I have always had a heart for the down-trodden and find good in everyone. Carol would do anything for anybody. She was a real sport and trouper. A very caring person. To those who treated her badly, you do not know what a real jewel you passed up. She was the one true friend I ever had or ever will have. I miss her everyday and look forward to the day I will join her and the rest of my family in Heaven.
