. First overseas experience was a TDY to French Morocco for 100 days in 1957. Celebrated my 21st birthday there. Assignments after MacDill were Bunkerhill AFB, Bitburg Air Base, Germany; Seymour Johnson AFB, NC; Turkey; Japan; Thailand; Philipines; Vietnam; California; Germany again and then North Carolina again. Retired from Seymour Johnson in August of 1977. Certain people told me that it would take a long time for me to adjust to civilian life. I figure it took about 10 minutes; the time it took to get off base after I signed my discharge papers. I enjoyed the military life, but I was ready to retire after 22 years and 22 days and 22 minutes. Just kidding about the 22 minutes, but it sounds good.
