Gerald's Story
Life
started at OHHS my sophmore year having moved from Park Ridge, IL---- main interests were sports and "social" (altho as I look back now was not much good at either) --- went first to Albion College to play football but was not good enough ---- transferred to Michigan State where renewed friendship with Jackie Schmidt and we were married in 1953 ---- now we have three grown children and three grown grandsons --- lost Jackie to cancer in 1995 ---- first career was Naval officer which took me all over the world and retired from that at end of 1978 --- s...Expand for more
econd career was college professor ending up in the Hotel School at UNLV and retired from that in 2000 --- lot of travel around the world lecturing and advising --- now I am "gainfully UNemployed" with plenty of time for golf --- ended up in Las Vegas Nevada and it is not as bad as you may have heard --- except for the heat which is indeed bad but only unbearable for four months out of the year --- did not get back to Grand Rapids very often and not at all after my Mother died --- have had no contact with my old high school cronies in all of these years.
