Geraldine's Story
Life
Hey everyone or no one, We've been back in Homer since June 06 and are so thankful to be back in Alaska. My Grandma almost passed away the end of March 06' and made me realize that living in FL is too far away to family. Now we are working for Grant Aviation and life is great again. Hope you all have a wonderful year in 2007!
School
The teacher that inspired me the most was a black man: Mr. Jose (my 5th and 6th grade teacher at Russian Jack Elem), he was awesome! He really knew what it took to teach kids and how to reach us.
As far as doing H.S. over again, definitely! Then going to college to get my CPA or a degree in Business.
As far as my worst experience in school, it was when I was at Wendler Jr High in ANC, My 7th grade year. There was this guy in my math class, where the teacher would call us in Alphabetical order (Scott (possibly) R or S being his last name) who would always make some remark about me being a native ( he was called right after me). Regardless of me asking him to leave me alone, he would always make some comment about me being a nativ...Expand for more
e (ie, fish eater, kalooshie, etc.)
One day, we were called up to get our test results:Geraldine Rogers, Scott (?) , etc. As we were walking up, he said something that ticked me off. I just blew it and swung my right arm over to his face and knocked his glasses off his face, he flew over a desk, the teacher asked what was going on. I can only remember going back to my desk on the right hand side of the class and crying the rest of the period.
The teacher asked if I wanted to see the nurse, but I didn't want to see her. I just wanted to get the hell out of that school, never to see that jerk again. I told my mom (she is the best) later that day, that I wasn't going back to school after that and that was how I ended up going to school in BET for my 7th and 8th grade.
I spent my 9th grade at East High in Anchorage, which was my best year in High School and saw that guy from my 7th grade math class, but he never said a damn word to me during the whole year. That was my worst experience in all my school years, other than that everything else was a piece of cake, no worries.
