Gerry's Story
Life:
After nearly 4 yrs. in Venado Tuerto Argentina, Greg changed companies in May 2009 & we moved to Querétaro, Mexico. It is a beautiful colonial city, very clean, very secure. We live in the nearby suburb of Juriquilla, a most tranquil & safe area. We are lovin' it here. We are about 1/2 hour from San Miguel Allende where many artisans & North Americans live. Greg has the standard ex-pat contract of three years. One huge difference between the Argentines & Mexicans is the way they drive. Many Argentines have no respect for the law or anyone who gets in their way. They, with their passionate Italian influence, lean on their horns at the smallest provocation & are always rushing to be first in line, their faces twisted with annoyance at having to wait & their hands & arms constantly moving & gestering. Here in Querétaro it is silent on the roads/freeways. People are very courteous on the roads or wherever. Don't get me wrong. at country we are in and we loved our time in Argentina very much. I love the way they speak Castellaños with an Italian rhythm! It's just that they seem to have an inflated opinion of themselves & have little regard or courtesy for another, like not bothering to make a simple phone call to let you know that they aren't able to keep their appt. or meeting with you. Don't get me started on that aspect! We very much enjoyed our time in Argentina but it was time to move on. We will always remember the dear friends we made there & plan to visit one day. We're on to a new adventure here!
We very much enjoyed our Mexican adventure near the beautiful historic city of Querétaro. We met wonderful people who have become lifelong friends. After two years, we felt it was time to move back home. So, in June of 2011, we moved to Phoenix, Arizona. We are so glad to be back in the states and closer to our four children & 7 grandchildren. We have no plans to live outside the U.S.A. again. We look forward to retirement in Phoenix!
