Gilbert's Story
I attended Harrison Tech High for only 2 yrs. In 1964 I joined the Marines and ended up in Nam 2 tours My Bad but NO REGRETS,got discharged in 1968.Motorcycled around from state to state for few years, Finally decided to come home. After a while went back to school (Mayfair College) got a lucky break, a job in the Sears Tower,now known as the Willys tower. ut 20 years decided to see if I could be up to a different challenge it made sense to me and did ok.
I always wanted to be a singer, love soul and motown. Got to meet the great Gene Chandler (The Duke of Earl) I have always been told that it was hard to tell the difference in my singing or Gene The Duke Earl though, I believe no one could ever match Gene Chandler. As it turned out at that time it was my favorite song and the only one I could really sing. Glad I kept day job!
