Gilda's Story
In March of 1992 I became the mom of a precious little boy who has Down syndrome. That little boy will be celebrating his sixteenth birthday in another week!
When you find out your child had a disability, it is like trying to walk during an earthquake. It takes every bit of concentration and balance you have just to stay upright. When the shaking stops, it takes some time to get your bearings, and once you do, your sense of safety is never the same.

as remained essential to my life as I have walked an unplanned, unfamiliar, and sometimes profoundly frustrating journey.
The good news is that my son is in the running for the best thing that has ever happened to me. He is the antidote to my selfishness and my dual propensities for self-pity and self-involvement. He has brought me, through his personality and tempermant, the virtues of patience, kindness, joy, not worrying about every little thing, faith, trust, hope, and a cadre of other blessings that I cannot count.
I owe to my Creator a debt I cannot repay, and I am grateful beyond measure for the gifts I have been given in this life, not the least of which is Tim.
