Gina's Story
My husband Erik & I have been married since 2005. Erik is the sweetest, kindest and most loving man and I'm blessed to share my life with him. He's amazing! My daughter Cory & her wife live down south and our grandson was born in 2020. What a joy he is! It amazes me how much he looks like our daughter.
I am disabled with complex spine damage in all 3 sections of my spine, 16 damaged vertebrae. I've had 2 cervical spine surgeries, the first of which saved me from becoming paralyzed from the neck down. I also have spinal cord and nerve root compression as well as numerous fractures on various vertebrae. I have RA and ankylosing spondylitis which compounds my pain & mobility limitations. worse over time) and there is no cure. I am not paralyzed but I can only hobble a few steps at a time so I use a wheelchair to get around. My spine damage stems from abuse in my past. I survived abuse in childhood and in my 1st marriage. I was awarded a divorce from my ex in 2004 for Cruel and Inhumane Treatment after he admitted to 2 incidents of abuse.
Though the first 32 years of my life were filled with abuse, fear, pain and physical damage, my life since I escaped my abusive ex has been so much better. I am happy and I am at peace. I am proud to say that I've lived abuse free for 22 years now. Best of all, I'm surrounded by love. All in all I can happily say that I'm blessed and I'm loved. That is worth everything to me.
