Ginger/Virginia's Story
Well, as I was completing some more of the profile,(the Q&A), I just had to laugh about how I would describe myself in H.S....as I have learned over the YEARS, I am not very good at knowing how other perceive me!
I do know that I have really "come out of my shell" with maturity (i.e. AGE). That is one of the many benefits of getting older!
I married when I was 19 and was married for 18 yrs. and 2 daughters and a son. Two of them are married and my son
has a little boy (my one and only grandchild).
Moved to Chicago in 1977 and lived there for 8 yrs. LOVED IT but too far from family. Then moved to Columbus, MS and lived there for 20 yrs. What a culture shock! Divorced in 1992 while in nursing school. Remarried in 2000 and then divorced in 2007. Sure do miss having a companion in my daily life! I have been so disappointed in marriage but still believe in it wholeheartedly.
I started doing travel nursing in 2006 and really enjoy it. I use an agency and go on assignment (from 8 to 13 weeks each - although I often extend and stay longer) to different hospitals where they need to fill gaps in staffing. I enjoy seeing different parts of the...Expand for more
country, meeting new people and the pay is great. It does have drawbacks though like not being in Pensacola a whole lot, not being part of a church, not seeing my grandson as often as I would like and the difficulty in establishing a special relationship. I won't do this forever...but it is working for now. I am a labor & delivery nurse which is mostly a happy experience but as is all nursing quite stressful at times.
I have not been keeping in touch with anyone from H.S., which is so sad as those were such special times. It is easy to lose touch when you have been away from the area. I moved back to Pensacola in 2007 and live in a condo near Cordova Mall. Of course, I don't get to enjoy it very often, but try to come home every couple of months for a visit. My mom lives here and so does my sister and her family.
I am an avid reader, love the outdoors, the beach, camping, learning new things (would love to kayak & sail, maybe even scuba diving), love motorcycling and to travel. I love music, animals and children. I miss having a pet but it is so impractical and difficult to find housing that will accept pets on some assignments.
