Gladys's Story
I began by working for NYCHA right after graduation.I left to attend College in Rhode Island, after the degree, worked in Providence for The Travelers Insurance Co. as a Manager in the Client Servicie Center. I married and had twin daughters and took time to be a mother.
I moved back to NYC and return to the NYCHA. Worked and received many promotions and retired from Managerial Executive title.

IAfter my parents' death, I found out that I was of the Taino and Caribe blood.
I have dedicated my time to my culture. I was selected as the Earth Mother of the North Eastern Native American Association based in Queens NY. I am also an elder in the Maisiti Yukayeke Taino based in Brooklyn. I enjoyed dancing at powwows and my category is Women Traditional.
Enjoying my retirement and traveling abroad when I can. My girls are grown up and have their careers. I am now waiting on grandchildren (smile)
