Glen's Story

(Note): Any and all new stuff I add here will be at the end, under the heading "extras". Life: Was the tall, skinny, quiet person who never cracked a smile, perceived as a loner, and no one seemed to want to associate with, and always seemed to have a military look. Was always put down and criticized. Was perceived as someone who would never succeed because I was a (c,d,f,)student. SURPRISE!! Was on the Dean's List. Inducted into Phi Theta Kappa. Three (3)time Vietnam Combat Veteran. Honorably Discharged. Earned numerous medals. Am in two (2) different states library archives due to the history I made. Am Chicago's very own "ORIGINAL" Historic "OUT" gay veteran who is the originator and the forerunner and member of the now nationwide/worldwide gay military organization known as "GLBVA" (Gay,Lesbian,Bisexual Veterans of America), when I marched in the Gay Pride Parade approximately 1988-89 in uniform carrying an oversized sign, and have been in the parades ever since, including others. Am best known and recognized by my military veterans cap and decorated leather vest. Our Gay Pride Parade is always the last Sunday in June. Starts at Belmont/Halsted. Lineup: 12 Noon. Have other major accomplishments. As of 4/2002, GLBVA is now known as AVER(American Veterans for Equal Rights)in order to include transgendered individuals and "straight" veteran individuals who fully accept ALL gay orientations. ONE OTHER THING.....Am an accomplished, certified factory/school trained professional locksmith and safe repairman, have had my own business in Chicago for over 28+ years,(since 1977) and also had a full page advertisement story on me in reference to my ...Expand for more
locksmith abilities and that I was considered the best locksmith in the city. This was published in a national trade magazine. Locksmithing & Safe Repair, including Sharpening Business is my Primary Overall Profession. _______________________________________ AS Extras: I am also a certified factory/school trained professional in Small Engine Repair, VCR Repair, Computer Programming. Also received diploma/training in Private Investigation (again school trained), and two (2)advanced diplomas in Medical Billing and Coding through a community college. A top student in these area's as well. Just felt it would be good to have this as extra education & knowledge. _______________________________________Am definitely one who does things when you least expect it. Am definitely a cut-up when you least expect it. You would never believe it, and you would never recognize me; but I also do professional drag. Have for many years. I do my own makeup, etc. Have won some top prizes. Once you heard my "stage" name, you probably won't recover from laughter. I have had some literally fall down backwards on their butt! Others have literally fell backwards against a wall and then uncontrollably slid down the wall until they were on their butt; and their hands grabbing their stomach in laughter! As a Secondary vocation/profession: I do the following. Since I enjoyed my three advanced years of woodworking while in High School, I also enjoy doing it even to this day. Besides making different projects from wood, I also will make caskets for pets (Small to X-Large,(will ship as well); including caskets & western coffins for people. "Extras": Am now on Facebook and Twitter
