Glen's Story
Life
Greetings! Where to begin? After graduation I attended Spartanburg Methodist College and got my AA degree in Liberal Arts. I then transferred to Clemson University and earned my BS in Mathematics. I spent 1 1/2 years teaching at McCormick High School in McCormick, SC, while waiting for a pilot slot in the Air Force to open up. That didn't happen so I opted for a career in Space Operations. I completed the Air Force's Officer Training School and spent 8 years flying Defense Department Satellites in Colorado Springs, CO. I left the Air Force in 1992 and I went to work for AlliedSignal (now called Honeywell) at NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, Maryland. (Krista, 20yo) that I'd take her to Paris for her 16th birthday and we had a great time together there during the week of Bastille Day (France's Independence Day). I had a "temporary" assignment which turned into a four year stint in Chandler, Arizona, launching the world's largest satellite constellation (89 satellites). I'm now back working at NASA again on the Solar Dynamic Observatory that's slated to launch in August 2008. On the home front I just married the love of my life, Maureen, in Barbados on March 22nd. We try to make it back home at least once a year to see my parents. It's amazing how Shaw, Dalzell, and Sumter have changed over the years. Through this site I've been able to keep in touch with a couple of people. I hope this finds you in good health and good spirits. -Glen
