Life
I've led a pretty quiet life. I retired from the State Police in 2003 and got a little afraid of sitting in my retirment recliner looking out the window at Lake Michigan. So I sigend up to be a Civilian Police officer for the UN in Kosovo. After the war in 1999 this place was a mess. I have been here for three years. The work is hard but the travel opportunites in Europe have been fabtastic.

My work in Lebanon has changed recently. We are trying to teach and implement Community Policing concepts in the Lebanese Police. Pretty cool opportunity for me since I am now responsible for making it happen. I have a small training staff working at a remote training site in the north of Lebanon teaching community policing. The program will grow soon as we develop curriculum to train the mid level managers in conjunction with the lower ranks. Everyione understands the concepts and can implement in a single region we can then measure changes in service delivery and citizen satisfaction with the police.
