I got married after my sophomore year at West Texas State in 1971. My husband enlisted in the Air Force and I followed him around for 9 years living in Wichita Falls, TX, Tucson, Arizona, Colorado Springs, Colorado, and Fort Worth, TX. When he got out, we stayed in Fort Worth. I followed my kids around while they did all of the things that kids do. We were married 23 years.
I remarried in 1996. By then both kids were more or less out of the house -- they do tend to come back now and again. My husband and I were able to travel quite a bit thoughout the United States, and we had...Expand for more
a great time together. Unfortunately, some things do not last forever and we divorced in 2005.
Now I am enjoying the single life. I have found that I really can be by myself and that life does go on. I still work 40 hours a week. I enjoy my kids and grandkids. I have my own home and a fiesty Jack Russell Terrier named Jake. I don't particularly want to stay single, but I figure that if I am meant to find someone else -- it will happen.
I try to stay active. I love to camp and have a small camping trailer that I have taken out by myself and stayed over a week. I like to golf although I am not very good at it -- shoot around 117, but I only get to go occasionally. I don't like to go out to the golf course alone. I love to travel. I especially love the oceans and beaches and the Colorado Rockies. I have been to the Carribean and to London. I would love to tour Europe -- especially Germany.
I have stayed at my job long enough to be eligible to retire. However, being eligible and financially able are two different things. I hope to retire in 7 or 8 years -- besides it keeps me busy. I certainly don't want to go home and look at four walls all day.
My motto: Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather a skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming....WOW-- What a Ride!!!
