Glenn's Story
Hi all, I thought I had done one of these years ago! Here are the baic details if you are interested. Most of you remember that I didn't graduate. At 15 I had already started the precursor for my career. I have been very blessed . I want my tombstone to read that I have had more fun working than any ten men could claim. That shy geeky looking boy in class with you left school, went home and wrote, and did a rock and roll radio show every night under a different name. i rode my bicycle to the studio at 15. Too funny. From radio I schmoozed my way into the music business in Nashville. I lived in Nashville for many years. I even announced The Grand Ole Opry a few times. I knew many stars in Nashville and Hollywood and had a ball living on show busses terorzing a new town every night! I have met 2 Presidents, Johnny Cash, Katherine Hepburn, and so many more. How does a kid from Dover get to do that? A drive to be in the lights I guess. Such fun! Oh, there were two wives. Enough about that. ha ha After a nasty divorce iI got pretty well wiped out so finding little in Nashville, I went home. Having done a lot of national publicity for Nashville artists, I scored a government position as Communications Director/Press Secretary to a statewide Delaware elected official. Believe me, evil statewide politics in Delaware was cake compared to international show business! I had to laugh at the self important Delaware suits. I used to shake my head and whisper "goo...Expand for more
berville". So, I did that for about 10 years and became ill. I was forced to go on disability and lost my creature comforts. I decided that if I had to slow down, I was not going to do it in Dover, for Christ sake. With winter and ice scraping coming quickly, I searched Florida. If I was going to be poor, it was damned well going to be in paradise! I rented an efficiency, sight unseen, 1/2 block from the beach in Cocoa Beach, Florida. After a couple of years I was craving bright lights and big city again so I found a nice place in Fort Lauderdale. Have been here about 11 years. Now that I am an old fart I would like to go back to Cocoa Beach. It's smaller than Dover, but great beaches, surfers, piers, dolphins,an easy going paradise. I was joined several years ago by my dear Dover High friend Sally Scott (73). She was widowed and wanted a change of scenery. We have been roomates ever since. I don't know what I would do without her. We walk our chairs to the beach most evenings, I have a breezy scotch on the rocks and sometimes a cigar. So all in all with highpoints and lowpoints, life aint half bad. So that's about that. I assure you that none of this is meant to be bragging. No one is more amazed about my experiences than I am! I just went for it I guess. The only thing I WILL say, is to all of the snobs... six figure incomes, global travel, amazing contacts, and now retired... all with just a GED! Smell that. hahaha. Take care and be well. Glenn
