Glenn's Story

After Leigh, I went two years to that bastion of academia, West Valley College. Then I transferred to the Harvard of the west coast, Chico State. Got a BA in Political Science in 1973. I was an RA in the dorms, so my room and board was covered and I enjoyed Chico, so I stayed another year working on a Masters degree. I then went to Law School at McGeorge School of Law/University of the Pacific. Graduated from there in 1977 and passed the California Bar exam that year. Since I concentrated on tort and environmental law in law school, naturally my first job would be in criminal law as a deputy district attorney for San Mateo County. Just when I was getting some good trial experience, Proposition 13 passed and I was layed off. I then worked for a private general practice firm in San Jose, where I now was defending the same type of people I was previously trying to put in jail. The conflict was too much for me and I decided to go in a whole new career direction. I went back to school to the Yale of the west coast (San Jose State). I got a BA in Journalism in 1980. Even though I never got to formally use that degree, I did meet my wife Jennifer at San Jose State. I married her in 1982 before she could get her super model career off the ground. Before I could get my journalism career going I got lured to Corporate...Expand for more
America and got hired by Atari. I was back using my law degree negotiating contracts. After riding the Atari roller coaster, I went to Lockheed. I've stayed in Corporate America ever since serving my corporate masters in the exciting world of government contracting. It's not exactly fun, but it beats putting people in or out of jail. At least it pays the bills. In July of 2010 I retired from my former corporate master (Lockheed) and switched to a new and old corporate master, SRI International in Menlo Park. I had worked there before and they asked if I would be interested in returning. It was a good move to go back. They are an R&D nonprofit institution, the latest item to come out of there with any notoriety is the "Siri" feature for the I-Phone. My timing going back was perfect as I got to share in a royalty check on the Siri sale to Apple. The fun at SRI ended in July 2013 and I am now retired. I ride my bike six days a week, usually riding about 15 miles a day and I still play basketball one day a week. Jennifer and I have one daughter Wendy, who also graduated from Leigh (2007), and from UC San Diego in 2012. We're all big Disney fans and try to spend as much time as we can at Disneyland and Disney World. We also plan to travel and see some of the world. Next trip is to Australia and New Zealand.
