Gloria's Story
After graduating in 1967, I went to work at Northwest Chair as a billing clerk. I became engaged the same. It was a big day. I worked there until September and went to work at the Medicare office as a receptionist. I worked there until March of 1968. I was married and moved to Hawaii and lived there for a year. Because my husband was in the military and did not make much money, we were not able to go to the tourist traps but we did go to the beach a lot. We also went to Honolulu and Waikiki Beach and people watched. You saw a lot there! We came back to Tacoma in April of 1969. I went back to work at the Medicare office, 1970 we bought a house and had our first child, Therisamarie. In 1973 I had our second daughter Christina. I had a great time being a Mom. In 1976 I got my first job in the insurance industry. I worked for a year and quit and was a Mom again. In 1982 my Mom passed away and I went back to work, again in the insurance industry. rance agent and worked full time until 2013. I am now working as a receptionist part-time and have for over a year. It is so nice only working 3 days a week and I do not have to deal with the headaches of being an agent. In 1996 I was divorced after 28 years of marriage and on my own for the first time in my life. I bought my own house and it was hard but I got through it and feel I am a better person because if it. Therisa lives in North Carolina with her husband and works for a large corporation. I keep forgetting the name. She has 3 step kids, boy 23 and two girls 22, 21 and a grandson,10 mo. Christina lives in Puyallup with her husband and is a teacher. She worked in the Federal Way school district last year and is hoping to work in Fife or Puyallup this coming year. She has two girls, 17 & 15. I adopted a toy Pomerainian in 2012. She is a joy. For being 10 years old, she is full of piss and vinegar and makes me laugh a lot. My life is pretty quiet. I have my friends, family, reading and working in my yard which is always a work in progress!
