GLORIA's Story
Hi FTN '71 Classmates,
After grduating from FTN, I attended UNO College of Education and selected a double major. Upon graduating I accepted a job with OPSB and was placed at "Douglas' (aka FTN). What an expereince to return to your former High School and teach a new generation and have your former teachers as collegues. I transferred from FTN to SJ Green to teach on a middle school level. Overall, it proved to be very pleasing. I met my spouse through one of the Libriarians assigned to Green, the traditional co-worker of her fiancee. We introduce ourselves as a mixed marriage, he is from Uptown and I am from Downtown., and as secondary he is a Reform Jew and I am a Missouri Synod Lutheran. Our marriage has lasted 25 years and is still going strong. No children, but a somewhat large extended family throughout the U.S. Shortly before marriage, I resigned from O...Expand for more
rleans Parish Public Schools and became a Bureaucrat with the City of New Orleans, and a civilian member of the New Orleans Police Department. I am he Director of the NOPD Grants Administration Unit. I would not trade my job and experiences for any offer made. Yes, one day I may write a book.
Barry, my husband and I love to travel, especially to his USNA (Class of 1975) Class Reunions in Annapolis. Annapolis, Baltimore and Washington D.C. have become my favorite cities to visit. We also enjoy the Cultural Arts. Katrina has impacted our lives. Our home in Vista Park was destroyed. Barry accepted a job in Houston, I remain in New Orleans, we Skype every night and visit each other every other month. Thank God for Southwest Airlines! I plan to retire in 2014 and become a Houstonian.
Okay, felllow FTN'71 Classmates, let me hear from you!
