Gordon Baker:  

Gordon is from McDonough, Georgia. Gordon's schools include Stockbridge High School. Gordon later attended Clayton State University ( Associate of Arts, French, Education), Valdosta State University (Bachelor of Education, Elementary Education, Library Science), Atlanta University (both Masters and Specialist of Library Service) and Nova Southeastern University (Doctor of Education). I began my professional career in 1975-1976 at Beaverbrook Elementary School in Griffin as a 5th and 6th grade teacher and part-time librarian. During 1976-77, I taught fifth grade at Morrow Elementary School in Clayton County. In 1977-78, I transferred to George M. Kilpatrick Elementary School in Jonesboro as library/media specialist. In 1979, I began working part time at Clayton Junior College as the evening and weekend librarian. During my years at Kilpatrick I chaired the School Library Media Program of the Year Committee. The Clayton County Schools were the 1st runners-up for the national title. I continued my daytime duties at Kilpatrick until I was selected to open the new Edwin S. Kemp Elementary School in Hampton in 1983. I continued at Kemp Elementary until 1989. During the 1989-90 school year, I returned home to the Henry County School System and worked as one of the library/media specialists at Henry County Middle School in McDonough. In the spring of 1990 I was selected to open the new Eagle's Landing High School in McDonough.
