Gordon's Story
Life
Retired after 20 years in the US Army, finishing up as First Sergeant of the Army's only Arctic Light Combat Engineer Company in Fairbanks, Alaska. Now working as a paralegal at a Class Action law firm in Colorado Springs. Daughter Erin is married, mother of two beautiful daugthers (I'm a grampa!)and a middle school science teacher in Topeka, Kansas; and our son David is a computer systems engineer at Cerner, Inc., in Kansas City, MO. Wife Barbara and I have been married 28 years.
School
Getting bussed to Manual was a great experience for me. Great new friends and great teachers--people with open minds. Helped make me the man I am today.
College
Did two years at Murray State, then in very short order got married, became a father, and joined the Army. Restarted my education while serving overseas, and finally graduated ten years later.
Workplace
After retiring from the Army, I thought work would be easy (no more 16 hour days!)Well, that part was true, but work in the civil world isn't any picnic. I used my GI bill to go to paralegal school, and got a job 7 days after graduation. Initially working as a legal assistant for a work comp attorney, I have been working as a paralegal for a class action firm for going on 6 years. If you bought a Hyundai, or had a car accident in Colorado, or used Mailboxes, Etc., chances are I worked on a case that put money in your pocket.
