Gordon's Story
Hi everyone! I hope you are doing well !! I can't wait until our next reunion so I can see everyone again. Anyway, here is my story. After graduation, I went straight to work and continued to do so for the next twenty years. During this time, I worked for Lohman's Supply Company, Cape Electric and Wetterau. There were a couple of other jobs that I worked at, but only for a short time. During these years I did a lot of camping, hunting and fishing. I also got into bodybuilding, competing in several competitions including the Mr. Missouri Contest where I placed as high as 3rd.
After getting tired of the direction my employment was taking me, I decided to begin college. So, at the age of 38, I started college at SEMO where I graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Education, majoring in Physical Education. Upon graduating in the middle of a school year, I was hired at Cape Central Junior High as a teaching assistant for the ...Expand for more
remainder of that year. The next school year, I was hired at Delta High School as a PE and Health teacher and also a coach. Four years later, I completed a Masters Degree in Education form William Woods University.
At Delta, I coached baseball for my first 12 years and have coached track & field for the last 7 years in the Spring. During this same time, in the Fall, I also serve as the cross country coach, now in my 17th year of that. I started both the cross country and track & field programs at Delta and have made a combine 21 state appearances between the two sports: 17 in cross country and 4 in track & field.
My wife of 29 years, Andrea, our dog Xena and I live in Fruitland. We love to go on cruises and do one almost every year. We have been all over Europe, Canada, the Caribean, Alaska and the North East. I recently bought a classic car, a 1955 Ford Fairlane Victoria. Having some fun with it! Well, that's about it.
