Greg's Story
Life
For those of you that have forgotten where I live, I live in Washington state. I like to stay in touch with friends and make new ones. I am an grandfather of 9 grandkids. I have the same wife that I married years years ago. My interests are in computeres, carpentry, and fruit trees.
I have gotten rose bush starts in buckets that are growing and
sprowting new leaves. I built a complete new back deck railing and built storage sheds.
Write me and show me projects that interest you.
Greg.
School
Early bio: Attended J.B Breckenridge elementary, and finally got out of there when I learned to talk "American".
Graguated:Sidney High School.
I graduated didnt I? Basta. Si pueden leer esto , entonces de verad ponieron atencion en su clase de Espanol. Se acuerdan de Miss Giron ??? OLE!! OLE!! OLE!!
I was a "hall monitor", watching that kids did not get out of "line" and misbehave. What a school. I took Journalism classes writing all the scoop about school events, and then took print shop classes to learn the printing business but that was bust. I was run out of Zimmermans music class the first day so my music career was short. Didnt like the tubba anyway, too big and clumsy for a small guy like myself.
BUt I really liked ROTC,all that marching and stuff, and it payed off for me when I joined the Air Force. I could march, handle rifle, knew chain of command, and sing. What a deal.
Nuff said.
College
I remember the cold buildings, the poor lighting, the rickety stairs.
Workplace
Dont laugh, I am glad that I dont have to think about where my next meal comes from.
My career in computers started in 1965 when I was a supervisor working for a telephone company in charge of computer operations.
I then migrated to computer systems applications programming and design. Boring. Too ana...Expand for more

I went to work for the state of Washington in 1972 and I think I found my home. Good people to work with. I went to work for the Department of Licensing, where I designed and implemeneted Revenue systems. Boring. But it was a living.
I then went to work for the Superintendant of Public Instruction. Again I was doing anlayst work on agency applications . I left that agency to work for another state agency, the Department of Employemnt Security.
I had various positions there, from applications programming to applications security administrator. I stayed with that agency until I retired. It was great working there, and it got me a good insight as to how the rest ot the country compare with my state in the area of employment.
My real interest was in the area of personal computers, where I could do it all, from scratch to finish. After I retired I joined a group for old guys that were left behind in the area of PC expertise.
At present I an proficient enough to build my own computers
and install the software I need. It is gratifying, try it.
I had other trivial employment that doesnt merrit mentioning.
Military
Went to Rantoul Illinois in late 1953. Stationed at Chanute AFB until June 1954. Trained as a specialist on R4360 engines and flight line crew member for B-36 and B-52, and any other aircraft that the Air Force decided to throw at us.
Went to Fairchaild AFB in Spokane Washington in 1954 and was in the
Strategic Air Ccommand, the best danged airforce in the world.
Went to cushy Hickam AFB in Honolulu Hawaii in 1955 and didnt come back until 1956. If I tell you what we did there I would get killed by the feds.
I got honorably discharged in 1957, got an early discharge because there was just too many guys in the airforce, and the fact that I wouldnt re-enlist.
