Greg's Story

Where to start? After High school I entered an ill conceived, but thankfully short marriage. The early eighties were kind of a blur. I held several jobs that were mostly just to fund my partying. I hung out with Jeff Daugherty, Matt Mattox, John Helm, and Mark Smith. Great times but you can't exactly put them on a resume. After coming to the conclusion that I had better make some serious decisions I returned to school. I had worked as an orderly in surgery for years during high school and decided to pursue a degree in nursing. I received a degree in nursing and went to work in the ICU at Houston Northwest hospital. Coincidentally, I also met my future wife the first day of nursing school. My wifes name is Christina and we have been married for 13 years and we have four fantastic kids. Three boys and one girl. After heading the ICU for ten years I moved to surgery and was part of the Heart team at Northwest. In 2001 I was recruited by a Houston company associated with Dr. Michael DeBakey to manage the clinical team for a new heart assist pump. These pumps are called LVAD's (Left ventricular assist devices) and they are put in patients needi...Expand for more
ng a heart transplant but have not found a suitable donor heart. This was a great job and exposed me to a lot of international travel and interesting people. It also afforded Christina and I the luxury of having her leave her nursing job to become a stay at home mom. Trust me she didn't get off the hook. She has taken on the responsibility of home schooling our kids. I'm sure she regrets that decision at times! I returned to school in 2005 and picked up a Bachelor of Science degree just because I needed more stress in my life. In 2007 I was recruited by a Japanese company called Terumo Heart who was launching a new LVAD in the US and wanted me to manage the clinical trial and launch. So I did what I never thought I would do and I left my beloved home state of Texas for the frozen tundra of Ann Arbor Michigan. I miss Texas, for the most part yankee's are assholes. Depressed state depressed people. My plan is to give this company a couple of years and then come home. Christina and I have property in New Braunfels off of River rd and plan to move there someday. Well that's my story. I would like to hear how everyone else is so drop me a note.
