Greg's Story
Graduated 1969 in first class to attend 4 years at Wainwright. Played basketball on winning 1968 Sectional Championship team. Set Basketball scoring record in 1969 scoring 36 points at Pine Village HS . Ran track for Coach Rohr teams and qualified for Gary West Track Regional in High and Low Hurdles just missing the '69 State Track Finals by one race. Set Wainwright HS and Tippecanoe county High Hurdle records . (later coached only team in the state to have 2 High Hurdlers in State Finals at Maconaquah HS). Played BB one year for Central Missouri State, recruited by West Palm Beach College but transferred to Purdue and earned teaching degree .Married 1970 Wainwright grad Terri Wong. and we have 3 sons and 1 daughter, Spent entire career at Maconaquah School Corp., 34 y...Expand for more
ears as teacher and coach. Coached HS Track & Field Teams qualifying 40 State Finalist including Randy Miller State runner-up in Pole Vault (Randy holds Purdue indoor and outdoor Pole Vault Records ). Also coached State Finals Hinshaw Mental Attitude Award Winner who placed 5th in 400 meter dash. Maconaquah HS Track teams won 7 straight MIC conference championships plus Kokomo Sectional IHSAA Title .. Team scored most points ever in Nations Oldest HS Relays- Kokomo Relays. Nominated for Indiana HS Track & Field "Coach of the Year" for ending States longest Sectional streak of Kokomo HS.
Dayton Indiana and Wainwright HS were great places to grow up in !!
Now living in Florida going to University of South Florida (Tampa) Track meets and Basketball games.
